Despite a rough childhood, Farley grew up to be Denton's biggest "success story": he started a chain of fast food restaurants (Farley Flavors Fabulous Fast Foods) which went nationwide and made him a multimillionaire; he then branched out into the entertainment industry with his purchase of DTV.

Eventually, Farley found out about his long-lost brother, Brad. Farley resented the fact that Brad had had a very easy life while Farley had spent so many years struggling just to survive, and had worked for everything he had while life gave Brad whatever he wanted on a silver platter. He was particularly jealous when Brad married his sweetheart, Janet Margaret Weiss, while Farley had never known love (just gold diggers once he'd achieved his fortune).

Farley vowed to destroy Brad, and take Janet away from him. His latest venture, the "Sanity for Today" project tying together his restaurants and a new show (Faith Factory) on the DTV network, was part of his plan to seduce Janet ... after he'd arranged to get Brad committed to Dentonvale under the care of bogus psychiatrists Cosmo and Nation McKinley...
